Flagship investigative journalism show Prime Time on Ireland’s national broadcaster RTÉ ran a pre-Christmas piece on cryptocurrencies this week.

Going by the title, “Into the Cryptoverse”, and available here (embedded from RTE Player so it might not be accessible outside of Ireland), the piece interviewed a range of people in the industry. The piece took a somewhat Dickensian approach, taking a lead from A Christmas Carol and looking at the past, present and future of crypto.

It contained contributions rom financial planners who were somewhat skeptical of crypto, talking to people on the streets of Dublin, including a mix of people who dabbled in crypto all the way through to people who gave up their jobs to trade crypto full time. It also featured an interview with brokerage/atm provider Bitcove, who have been building out a network of atm’s around the country.

It also wrapped up with an interview with the Fraud Division of the Gardai, who highlighted that the vast majority of fraud being reported in Ireland now has cryptocurrency as a component. It also highlighted that the guards are now looking for private keys when raiding properties as part of criminal investigations.
